H.U.G.S.: Herr Understands Group Support
Events Calendar
The entire staff at Herr Funeral Home and Sunset Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery are aware of the need to assist widows and widowers in adapting to their loss through a new program call H.U.G.S (Herr Understands Group Support). H.U.G.S is a social support program that offers everyone the opportunity to spend time with those who have experienced a similar loss and who can truly understand your feelings.
H.U.G.S. offers monthly luncheons with entertainment and day trips of varied interest from The Fabulous Fox Theater shows to the beautiful Dogwood/Azalea Festival in Charleston, Missouri. Overnight trips consisting of cruises and mystery trips will be scheduled, periodically, for the more adventuresome.
There are no dues associated with H.U.G.S. Members pay for their own lunches and trips. The sponsors, Herr Funeral Homes and Sunset Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, will provide the monthly entertainment and centerpieces. Attendees can rest assure there will be no sales presentations at the luncheons or events.
The purpose/mission of H.U.G.S. is to provide widowed individuals the means to become socially active again in a positive environment. Activity promotes good mental and physical health and the fellowship, alone, can assist in the healing. We are never too old to become blessed with new friends. No one should feel awkward or reluctant to become active in H.U.G.S. because those participating are widowed, too.
We welcome all widowed individuals regardless of funeral home or cemetery affiliation. For more information on how to join the H.U.G.S Program, call 618-656-3220 or 618-344-0187.
